Alexa's Holiday Wish List: What 10 Year Old Girls Want This Year!
My soon-to-be-10-year-old (!!!!!) Alexa is a Tik Tok loving, Roblox playing, 4th grade social butterfly. She loves sleepovers, graphic novels, matching set sweatsuits (like her mama!), hip hop dancing and tumbling. If any of these things sound familiar from chatting with the almost-tweens you know, love and need to find a gift for, you have come to the right place! Alexa and I got you COVERED!
I asked Lex to put together a “gift guide” with what is on her holiday list this year- and here is the list she gave me:
1- OMG LED Lights: The ultimate Tik Tok star accessory, Alexa is obsessed with these! (UPDATE: We ordered these for her 2 weeks ago and when I try and track them, they are still stuck waiting for a shipping label somewhere in Florida- SOOOO, I recommend getting any of these LED lights off Amazon which will arrive in time for holidays!)
2- Charli D’Amelio’s NEW Book “Essentially Charli”: Anything Charli is a win in this house. Her book looks really cute actually, and gives glimpses into her younger years as a dancer, which I think will be relatable- and motivating- for Alexa.
3- Cozy Sweats SPLURGE: Aviator Nation / Cozy Sweats Under $50: Chaser: The only time I am going to shell out Aviator Nation prices for a sweatshirt for my kid is on a special occasion (and, when her little sister can wear it a few years down the road)- but I will tell you that if I ever ask Lex what she wants these days, the first answer is “AVIATOR NATION SWEATS!” They are somehow the softest ever, and for Alexa, the softness factor is super important- so I get the obsession (I love them, too- but I am 41 and earn my own paychecks so if I want to buy myself an overpriced sweatsuit, I damn well will, ha!). Her other favorite sweats all come from Chaser- again, super soft, cutest designs, and a slightly more palatable price point. (ALSO- CHASER IS PART OF THIS 25% OFF FRIENDS AND FAMILY SALE RIGHT NOW!)
4- Sky Light Projector: An instant way to upgrade any Tik Tok video, at least according to Alexa.
5- Snack-Inspired Airpod Case: How adorable are these? Brian gave her his old Airpods a few months ago and while she loves using them, she can never find them- a case like this with a clip will make them much more simple to spot.
6- “Husband” Pillow for Lounging/Reading: Apparently, this is THE thing all the kids at sleepaway camp swear by when hanging out in their bunks- plus, it is great for setting up impromptu reading nooks in whatever room I can convince her to break open a book :)
7- L.O.L. Surprise! Dolls: Still a thing, apparently. And I gotta be honest, I do sort of love them for a future pop art shadowbox situation I dream of DIY’ing at some point.
8- GAP Beanie Hat: She loves beanie styles, and the GAP color options have something for everyone.
9- Silk Pajamas: Not sure where this obsession came from- I think one of the YouTube families she watches loves them- but it is high up on her list, and this pair in particular because the short sleeve top and pant combo.
10- James Charles Eyeshadow Palette: Another YouTube-inspired “must-have”, Lex loves using this to make- and of course, film- dramatic and inventive eyeshadow styles. It really has every single color she could ever need!
11- Hydro Flask: I feel like COVID disappeared the VSCO girl craze as far as social media goes, but this is still the Gold Standard when it comes to water bottles, and gotta say, I am okay with that. They last and keep her water ice cold all day!
12- Flavored Lip Balms: Apparently regardless of the decade (I had these on my wish list circa 1988!), Lip Smackers will prevail! Hey, if it gets her to apply lip balm so she doesn’t end up with cracked, chapped lips as the temps dip this winter, I am ALL IN!
13- Fidget Toys: I feel like “Fidgets” are in 2020 what Cabbage Patch Dolls were in 1985- I can’t find the ones she wants ANYWHERE, people are hoarding them for their kids. We did find some great ones on Amazon, though- this “Pop It” type is, according to Alexa, “SOOOOO satisfying”- and she also recommends this kit that comes with a bunch of options - plus, it will arrive in time for Christmas, is already packed up in a cute container, and, it’s $20!
