Best Back To School Clothes For Girls
It’s time for back-to-school shopping, and this year, I am focusing on letting my daughters’ be an active part of the process- both because they have developed their own sense of style and I want to encourage them to embrace it, but also because I want to show them how to curate a mix-and-match, easy-to-transition closet along the way. Alexa is starting middle school, and Goldie is going into 2nd grade- and for each of them, this back-to-school season feels different than the rest.
Yes, it probably has something to do with the end of the pandemic and a refreshing feeling of excitement and anticipation that doesn’t hinge on anxiety and uncertainty as it has for the past 2 years- but it’s more than that. To me, as their mom, I notice a shift in their growing independence and confidence that both breaks my heart (where have my babies gone?!) but also overwhelms me with excited curiosity. Allowing them make their own fashion choices lets them figure out how they want to present themselves to their peers and, in a larger sense, who they want to “be” right now.
Here is a short list of the items that the girls are coveting for this year’s back-to-school shopping sprees- I divided them up by age- first up, tween picks!
Back To School Tween Girl Shopping List:
Think comfort first (which to me, is a win!), and then 90’s inspired baby tees and floral prints, rock & roll graphic t-shirts and skorts. Lots and lots of skorts!
Back to School Elementary School Girl Shopping List:
Ruffle sleeves, comfy leggings and sparkle-embellished accessories are the name of my 2nd grade daughter’s fashion game! And of course, easy-to-slip-on shoes, anything rainbow and yes, we are still having a unicorn moment!
