Virtual Shopping: '70s Chic Jeans
There are two major reasons I am not currently updating my closet for Spring: 1- Baby weight. About 15 pounds of it that I am determined to lose, and I refuse to give myself the false sense of security that a wardrobe in my current size would provide.
2- It is freaking freezing out. I just can't wrap my head around peeling off 5 layers of sweaters, scarves, hats and gloves to try on short sleeved dresses and open toe shoes.
This however does not mean I am not THINKING about what those key purchases are going to be, and as such, I have decided to kick off a new series on my blog- Virtual Shopping. I think of it as my wardrobe wish list- and when the stars (otherwise known as my waistline and the weather report) align, it is what I will shop from.
First up? Jeans. Obviously I must indulge in the 1970's inspired higher waist, super flare leg denim trouser craze. And even though the look may seem daunting, if you find the right pair, this style can be insanely flattering. Elongates the leg, gives shape to the thigh, and sucks in the belly. Genius.
Purchase of choice?J Brand 923 Babe in Starless - $187
Why to buy? Dark color, high but not uncomfortably high waist, and "Power Stretch Denim" (whatever that is, it sounds good to me)
How to wear?: Short sleeve, fitted fine-knit turtlenecks (preferably in shades of maroon, navy or chocolate), long Dannijo gold necklaces and chunky platforms. Or flowy floral print silk blouses. All tucked in, of course.
