Better Basic: Grayson Makes The Best Everyday Button Up Shirts for Women EVER

I wore my Grayson button up shirt in Tumbled Linen to a lunch meeting AND while I did some light work in the garden last week and it was comfortable (and, I think quite cute!) in both situations.

While I have always loved the effortless chic look of relaxed fit button-up shirts, I never, if ever, wore them. They just seemed to FUSSY to me- typically unflattering, prone to showing sweat stains, tricky to wash and wear, and, above all else, any time I tried one, I just wasn’t COMFORTABLE.

Enter Grayson- a new brand that strictly designs ONE (yes, one) perfect button-up shirt called “The Hero”. Grayson launched in March 2019, the brainchild of Audrey McLoghlin, a former engineer (who also founded the luxury brand Frank & Eileen). She wanted to design the perfect shirt at an accessible price that could fit and flatter every women- no matter her age, size, body type, lifestyle- beautifully.

Mission accomplished.

What makes it Better Basic worthy?
-First and foremost- it FEELS GOOD to wear! Instant polish, but still effortless- it came to replace my go-to basic t-shirts with jeans on weekends when I wanted to just look a little, um, for lack of a better word, nicer.
-Portrait collar frames the face and décolletage perfectly
-Draped hem works with any pant- untucked, half-tucked or fully tucked
-Relaxed cut is relaxed, yes- but not oversized! The shirt manages to be flattering and feminine without looking like it is trying to be, if that makes sense.
-It is machine washable (though I wore mine like 4 times without needing to wash it- judge if you will, but it held up so well from wear-to-wear, I didn’t feel the need).

I am wearing the Washed Cotton Hero in these photos, and I also adore my Tumbled Linen Hero in a navy and white plaid. Sizing goes from 01-05, and the 01 fit me perfectly- typically for tops I wear a 2 or 4, if that helps.

The shirts start at $128, however, use the code BETTERBASICS through 7/31 for 20% off.

NOTE: Grayson’s publicist reached out to me to introduce the brand, and sent complimentary shirts to me so I could give them a try. However, all opinions here are my own- I get sent things to try all the time (a definite job perk!), but you can always trust that I only share the ones I truly love/wear/use. I have been doing this for too long to risk credibility in the name of freebies!
