Gift Guide 2019: Gifts for Kids That They Don't Already Own
Both my kids AND I would be thrilled to receive anything on this list (although I also am game for anything anyone wants to buy me from THIS accessory gift guide or THIS beauty list, btw)- which means everything on this list meets two critical requirements:
It is FUN! (for the kids)
It is COOL/USEFUL/ENTERTAINING and won’t be discarded in a day (but still somehow cause clutter for a year) in the playroom (for the adults who have learned the hard way that even though a kid doesn’t play with a toy anymore, the second the garbage truck leaves the driveway with that toy buried in the back, it is ALL THEY WANT TO PLAY WITH. Just to f*ck with us, probably- but still, it is no fun.)
Additionally. these are kind of random finds for the most part- which means the kids you have and/or the kids you know won’t own them already. Score!
1- Kids Pulse Light Up Skates: Like the coolest pair of sneakers, on wheels.
2- Kerri Rosenthal Wall Decals: How happy is this giant wall sticker? Adds joy to any bedroom or playroom- and can easily be peeled off the wall and moved to a new location as interior design goals evolve.
3- PacMan Ghost Table Lamp: A fun throwback!
4- Vintage My Little Pony Set: When it comes to My Little Ponies (and, for that matter, Care Bears and Cabbage Patch dolls) they just don’t make them like they used to. Which is why these vintage play figures are equally engaging as toys and #shelfie worthy decor.
5- Set of 4 Beaded Bracelets: Depending on the kid, she can layer all 4 for her own #armparty, or share with her friends.
6- Rosie Bold Clip Earring Set: These are the comfiest clip-on earrings ever (according to my 4 year old who has tried more than her fair share in the quest to “prank” her big sister’s friends into thinking she got her ears pierced)- great quality and sweet designs.
7- Ultimate Crayola Crayon Set: We have this, and carry it all over the house for on-demand coloring. It is the first crayon collection where we haven’t lost 90%of the colors within a week.
8- Adidas Superstar Sneaker: Cue “Walk This Way” video…but with toddlers in track suits wearing these slip on version of the iconic kicks.
9- Micro Maxi Scooter: The best scooter (in my family’s opinion at least- and we have tried many)- plus the adjustable height handlebar is very generous- Goldie (who is like 3 feet tall) and myself (5’2”) can ride the same
10- Unicorn Toothbrush: Take a toothbrush, but make it fashion. Basically.
11- Superhero Mask & Cape Set: Because you can never have enough dress up props, love that this set works for all genders and lets kids really create their own superhero personas instead of latching on to one someone else created for a movie.
12- Cat & Jack Glitter Slippers: When in doubt, give these. Cozy, sparkly and practical- plus, if you size up and they are a little big, kids never have a problem doubling up on socks to make anything that sparkles fit immediately.
13- Kids Alphabet DIY Necklace Kit: A craft that encourages thought and spelling- plus, kids can switch up the beads as often as they want to express different sentiments daily.
14-Bath Bombs for Kids: The easiest way to make kids actually BEG to take a bath- these are all natural, and have cute toys inside.
15- Chinese Takeout Box Purse: When you are a kid, you can (and should) go whimsical whenever you can with accessories, and this $26 Amazon find is just the thing to tote crayons and trinkets.
16- Kids Classic Skates: Yeah, I know- 2 roller skates on one list seems like overkill. But the neon pink wheels on this throwback style are too fun to edit out! Plus, they go all the way up through adult women’s sizing, so…Mother-daughter roller-derby, anyone?
