What To Wear For Thanksgiving

Make it comfy, but keep it cute, right? Here are 4 ideas for Thanksgiving looks depending on the occasion you have planned:

1- Travel to Turkey: SEQUINS AND LACE! You may think I am insane to suggest THIS sequin jump suit, but hear me out- I am a frequent commuter, so I know what clothes stand up to trains and automobiles- and sequin ANYTHING is like travel style teflon! If you have a long car ride, buy this. Trust me. It is for sure too much to sport on a flight though- but it does pack perfectly. An alternative option is THIS top- I am obsessed- and just throw on basic black pants or dark jeans. THIS super cozy knit top has all the elements of the moment- pale hue, puff sleeve, delicate crewneck- but in material that feels like one of those Barefoot Dreams blankets. Pair it with THESE adorable lace crop pants (another commuter style superstar- LACE! Who knew?! Well, I did…but anyway…)

2- Polished Affair: SHORT AND SWINGY! The key here is finding something that looks pulled together, but feels like a giant cozy oversized t-shirt you would sleep in. THIS swingy floral dress (that I am wearing in the picture above) is JUST the thing- a little more fitted at the shoulders so as not to swallow you up, but generous enough everywhere else for a second and third serving of, well, everything. If you want to go with a bold hue- THIS Maje dress has a similar fit, but in bright festive red. Or THIS Tanya Taylor stunner, which comes in sizes from 0-24W. Lastly, THIS under-$60 find from ASOS is en route to my door- how fun is the flounce factor?

3- Football and Food Fest: LIGHT LAYERS! Here is your uniform- a fitted turtleneck (I buy THESE in bulk- slim cut not too tight that you feel self-conscious!) or an optimistic graphic tee (it is Thanksgiving, after all-switch out Def Leppard for THIS Sub_Urban Riot Kindness one), a blazer like THIS from Lioness which is a brand I discovered on Shopbop that is so well priced I honestly thought it was a typo the first time I ordered one of their pieces, and comfy jeans with stretch (obviously, I vote for THESE because it is the brand that I always wax poetic on whenever jeans are mentioned.)

4- Hostess with The Mostest: LONG, FLOWY AND FREE! THIS Ulla Johnson dress is basically perfect because it almost looks even MORE chic with bare feet so you can waltz through the kitchen and greet guests gracefully! I also own a version of THIS elastic waist Halogen x Atlantic-Pacific ballgown skirt (this blogger/retailer collaboration is- dare I say- by far the best one ever)- pair it with an easy breezy t-shirt or a tank/cami and crop blazer and if a spill or stain happens, a quick change is so simple. I love THIS black with floral motif Rebecca Taylor dress so much too- while yes, it is more fitted than the others, it is by no means body-con tight. Ringing in at under $80, THIS ASOS exclusive dress would be perfect with fresh white Superga sneakers.

Okay- hope this helps to make the idea of dressing for a feast less frightening! Comfort first, but that doesn’t mean style has to be second, right? xx JF
