A Splurge Worth Every Single Cent: Brian Atwood Maniac Pumps
About 10 years ago, I bought myself a pair of round toe Marc Jacobs pumps in red patent leather. It was one of my first big purchases when I was earning my own money right out of college, and I remember agonizing over the decision- if I was going to blow a paycheck on a pair of shoes, should they be as practical as possible (i.e. black)?
But in what I can perhaps credit as my first instinctually fashion savvy moment, I went for the red, and wore them to death. Ever since I begrudgingly had to retire them for good, I have searched for the perfect replacement.
When I saw out that my beloved Brian Atwood Maniac heel was available in red at Saks, I ordered them immediately. See, I wear my nude pair almost daily (when I travel it is the only pair of shoes I bring, which alone makes them worth their weight in gold), so even though a second pair was a splurge, I had to rely on my now trusty fashion instinct that it was a splurge worth making.
And, for the record, I was right.
A good pair of red shoes (or purple, or green for that matter- color is everything when it comes to footwear) will maximize your existing wardrobe with minimal effort. And that, my friends, is priceless.
