Shopping Spree: Two Perfect Dresses
I couldn't resist adding a few things into my closet for Fall, even though I am still in disbelief that summer is coming to a close (I didn't set foot in the sand once- not that I am a huge beach person, but still...)
One promise I made to myself is that from here on out, I am going to be super picky about every purchase. There is only enough real estate in my closet for perfectly polished pieces that are easy to wear, with an element of timelessness. And dresses in particular have a lot to live up to- in addition to the basic criteria above, they have to travel well and be flattering on-air.
My husband (who, despite being a definite guy's guy and working in finance, is my most trusted stylist- friends of mine have actually asked to rent him out for shopping trips) accompanied me to Saks last week, and we found two dresses that are pretty freaking amazing. One I picked out, one he picked out. Both will get tons of wear, this season and beyond.
My Pick: Milly Addison Puff-Sleeve Dress
The statement color, the lady-like shape, and the flutter sleeves that cover my arms just enough (I have a major arm thing, FYI) have me convinced that this dress was made for me. Not to mention the bow detail on the patent skinny belt. In addition to an arm thing, I have a bow thing (my wedding had a bow theme throughout, actually) and skinny belts are my most favorite accessory always. So clearly this dress had to come home with me. And it did.
His Pick: Tibi Tweedy Knit Cap Sleeve Dress
Brian loves dresses with boots- must be a Texas thing. And this dress is made to be worn with chocolate textured tights and brown boots. I fell in love with the fact that it has such a girly shape, but in a very menswear-inspired tweed material. Bonus points for leather details and pockets.
Have you bought any fall dresses yet? I am still building my collection, so if you wouldn't mind sharing, comment below.
